Scenery Tutorial: Coco Rocha

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I made a scenery tutorial, so here's one for all you aspiring models.

This tutorial will focus on expression, the power of black an white, and of course, complex posing!

Our inspiration for today is:

 The amazing Coco Rocha!

The first step in making a good scenery is styling. You should keep your basic features (nose, eyes, face shape & skin tone) but expression is key! The two most important things in expression are the eye brows, and mouth. For this scenery I have raised my eyebrows, and chosen a slightly open moth to give a surprised feeling to the scenery:

Once you are happy with your expression, you must chose a background color. For this scenery I am planing to turn it into black and white in the end, so I don't want a white background like in the picture, because it will look to bland. The beauty of black and white is that it unites all the colors in your scenery, and makes certain things stand out. I decided on a grey background, because it adds contrast, but is not too dark.

Now we can begin posing! I always begin my poses with the head, so the first thing we must notice is the angle of the head.

We must also notice how the rest of her body is also tilted, in different angles.

The "T" shape shows her torso and shoulder span. As you can see the torso is at a slightly different angle than the head, but only by a little bit. Because it is such a small difference, I am going to keep the torso that is connected to the head, and just add different arms and legs.

Let's take a look at the angles of the arms and hands:

It looks like we're going to need 5 different body parts to get the correct pose. When putting together the pieces it's important to notice that each elbow is approximately a 90 degree angle. 

 

Now that we have 6 bodies total things are starting to look a little confusing. But by the lines, I hope you can see that I've lined up the angels pretty well. Now on to the legs! 

I think I will keep the leg on the left that is attached to the torso, because it is pretty close to the correct angle. So that means I just need to add 2 more bodies to form the legs. 

Now that we have all the parts we need, we must cover up the parts we don't need. Like so: 

Don't worry if it looks a little funny at first. Once you put clothes on it will look better. See:

How braidtastic + New Writer

Hello little Editorialized stalkers!

As the title suggests, I'm a new writer here at this wonderful blog, and it's quite surreal, going

from an avid reader, to having "New Post" where "Dashboard" should be!

My names Joanna, I'm 12 and I come from the lovely  fricking hot right now land of Australia [Like Kylie!].

I love music, art, Harry Potter, songs that make me cry, and laughing at the idiotic drama that happens around here.

And now you know me.

Anyway, as I said before, the days are heating up in Australia, and that means SUMMER has come early!

Not a huge fan of  these 40 degrees Celsius lazy days, but it does mean that 

new hair trends aren't far away, and this year, they're reinventing the braid, and here's 3 

of my absolute favourites!

The Fishtail Braid

The Fishtail Braid basically looks like a back-to-front inside-out braid, something simple, but effective.
It looks great with about any type of hair or colour, and it's surprisingly easy to do!


Here's a video to show you how:

As it says in the video, it's easier to do the fishtail if you have longer hair, and not so short layers.

It takes a couple of times to get it right, and it does take some time to do.

However, with the end product it looks sensational!

It's incredibly easy to make it unique by adding in accessories [flowers, coloured extensions e.t.c],

so have fun braiding!

The second braid I want to show you is a personal favourite of my best friend, Demi,

The Waterfall Braid

It's a no-brainer why this hairstyle is called The Waterfall Braid, it looks as if the hair

is actually cascading down in the style of a waterfall! 

 It can be styled to look messy, for a warm day at the beach, or formal enough to wear to a wedding!

The best thing about the Waterfall Braid, is that you can attempt it with short hair, and it still works!

It does take a bit of time to get this perfect, and it also helps if you're quite accomplished at french-braiding.

Overall, the hairstyle is stunning, and also easy to accessorize, like the Fishtail. 

The next braid hairstyle I want to show you has been around for years, it's a timeless
classic, and this summer, it's coming back.


The Braid as a Headband

This makeshift headband is an oldie, but a goodie, and has made it's way from the hair of bored teenagers
at a slumber party, to the silky locks of Blake Lively and Hayden Panettiere.


Here's one video to teach you one of the many different types of braid headbands:

I find this style easier to do than the other two, but it still has that stunning effect.
 This one is harder to accessorize compared to the others, as it's an accessory itself!
However, just put a few small, quaint flowers inside the braid, and it'll have a lovely, peaceful feel to it.

ENTM: Task 1

 One of the most important parts of a scenery is the inspiration. And in the case of ENTM, that means the task. One of the beauties of a NTM competition is that everyone is given the same task, but somehow ends up with such different and unique sceneries in the end. since the inspiration is so important, a bad, poorly thought out task can lead to a bad scenery. This is where I come in. I have run 2 successful cycles of a modeling competition, and I hope to make this the third. It is my job to provide the best, most inspiring tasks that I can.  

Without further ado, I present to you the very first task in ENTM history.

 In the early 20th century the impressionists changed the way we see art forever. They painted "en plein air" and painted their impression of things. They cultivated movement and emotion in their works. Although deeply criticized at first, they are now seen as some of the greatest artists in history. For this task I want you to make a scenery inspired the impressionists, and everything they strived to create. You can do this by turing one of their works into a scenery, or generally incorporating their works into a scenery.

Make your scenery in the club ModelingWorld. Include "task 1" in the title of your scenery. You must include yourself in this scenery. A pose is required. Please print screen your work before you save it, and put the link in the comment section. Please give a description of your entry in the comment section. You have until the 27th to submit your entry.

The task winner's scenery will be featured on one of stardoll's most popular blogs Memoires of a Medoll. So work hard, and give this task a lot of thought. Don't be afraid to ask me questions.
