Sewing Adventures

I don't know if you remember, but a few months back I did a post about making my own clothes! It has been a very interesting project for me, and has certainly given me some quality time, off the computer! Just the other day I completed my second item of clothing and I though I'd share it with you all.

The pattern for the shirt looks like this:

First I cut out all the pieces....

and then sewed it all together!

If only it were that simple...

I actually had to learn how to sew button holes, which can look really ugly if you do them wrong.

They seemed to turn out okay. Well they hold the buttons in place and that's about all I can ask for.

And here is a beautiful puffy sleeve (:

Over the week end I also invested in some new fabric:

I like it quite a lot and I really want to make a romper out of it!I have 2 patterns that I want to combine.

The top of this^                                                    and the bottom of this^

So that it looks something like this:

(my fail of a drawing XD)

Do you think that would work?
What do you think of my shirt? :D

Wow, that's so cool that your into sewing & DIY (:
I also love the fabric you've choose, it has a consistent pattern and will be very cute for Summer time (:

Hmm. I think you should stick to the whole design of the picture on the right. I feel if you combine them that you will loose the originality and it will look a bit like pajamas :/ So yeah, I would just suggest to keep one or the other, although the one on the right is my fav :]

Woah! I love your designs! I wish you had a full picture of you wearing the shirt! And I agree with Vicky, I reckon you should just stick to the picture on the right. I love the pattern though!

The top is really well made, it is like something you could buy in a shop. Well done on the button holes. Thanks for showing us it.

Good luck with your next outfit it looks really nice in your sketch and I like the fabric.

Sewing is not easy. It's clear to me that you have talent... especially the outfit you'd like to make by combining the two patterns. It will be AWESOME with the material you've chosen! Can't wait to see your next product. I'm sure it will be as fantastic as this one is. I really love the sleeves!!

I don't think the mixture of the two would work, because you'll have it tight over the boobs, then a loose waist? So it would just be excessive puffy fabric over your ribcage from your boobs down. So I'd go one or the other.

@ Becka: I totally get what you mean. It could potentially be very bad to combine them. I'm visiting my aunt (who is a fashion designer) and I'm going to ask for her professional opinion, which, I have a feeling, may be the same as yours. I'm just not a fan of the top half of the romper because it looks too much like a little kid romper. I might need another pattern altogether, ah! If only I knew how to make my own patterns!
